After reading some of Tristan Jones's books I allways finished them wondering how much was fact and fantasy.

Theres no doubt you have to admire the man for travelling hundreds of thousands of sea miles in a variety of small boats ,all done on a shoe string.

I found this website with a remarkable insight into the mans character.http://www.reil1.net/tristan.shtml

My understanding was that Tristan Jones was only able to finance his world treks by the sale of his books, and that this requirement meant that he needed to attract a sowider audience that would normally be expected from yet another sailing adventure story, so he did his best to make them "more interesting" . from a sailing point of view I consider it a bit of a shame as he had a lot that would be of great interest to us all. I enjoy reading his books, but can only manage one , then need a long break before attempting the next.
