Nice report Jakes. Enjoy. I spotted Pat in one of the photos. He's a great pilot and a gentleman. Welcome to Kincora Harbour. Were up on Lough Ree but heading south again in a few days. Hopefully will cross Derg over Sat and Sun. Will keep an eye out for you. Looking forward to more photos. Keep an eye out for the white tailed Eagles off Scilly Island (ie near Parker point).

Thanks Mike not much of a report just a few photos we took on our phones, Andy it looks worse than it is , 2 locks in one 1st is 40ft and 2nd is 60ft and in fairness its very controlled,Takes about 40/50mins to go through the 2 . Thanks Noel i always look forward to your reports always very interesting. Will keep a look out for you over the weekend and also the white tails:)

Hi Ralf2
I have to say we had the most amazing week . Seen some fantastic places and made it up to Lough Key . Must take a longer holiday next year :)

Hi Jakes, Glad you enjoyed the amazing Shannon with its vast tideless inland seas. Lough Key forest park is amazing since the redevelopment by Waterways Ireland. Did you trip the tree top zip line adventure course or the canopy walk? Are you back in Fenit? The great thing about the Shannon system is weather rarely affects passage plans.

Hi Noel
have to say we had a great week but it went too quick :( Lough Key was fantastic and we must get there again to try the many things on offer. Next year planning on spending more time up there . Boat is still in Killaloe hoping to bring her back to Fenit weekend after this .. Roses here this weekend so have to stay around :)
Regards

Ah, "The Lovely Girls Competition" :) I haven't seen it on TV for many years. We will be down in Killaloe this weekend, will keep a look out if you are about.
Noel

PS: Old tip, if the weather is a bit lumpy on the way back out the estuary, hug the Clare coast passing Carrigaholt to avoid the worst slop and swell mid channel as the outgoing river tide hits the Atlantic swell, then when things settle down turn for Kerry head (i.e. as if you are making for Loop head). Many a time as we approached the inner mouth of the estuary, we thought we might be in for a rough ride for hours of nasty swell, but hugging the north of the channel avoided the worst and we seem to break through it in a few miles to calm water. More often than not though it is pleasant mid channel also unless there is a strong SW blowing.
