Went on a jolly to Smir in Morocco yesterday returned today, aboard a dutch steel displacement boat belonging to Sun Coasts first pupils in Spain.
The boat is "Moonen" 58ft . Seemed strange going raggie speed after a while on planning boats max 8.4knts,. He has a dirty bottom otherwise it should do a heady 12 knts. Lovely seas yesterday light easterlies, today turned round to 4-5 westerlies in the straits, which gave Dave the owner a chance to try out the stabilizers. Very effective they are too.

Boat weights 50 ton including the 10 ton of fule class A ocean going this one, powered by two humble Perkins T6354 range 4's 165hp. Will put a pic of the boat and huge engine room on soon, makes the Perkins look tiny.

Hi Clive, sounds like a good trip. Any ideas on the cheapest way to get to Gib?

Monarch & BA fly into Gib, dont know wether its cheaper than flying via Easy Jet to Malaga though.. Best to check one of the online flight bookers.
P.S. do you reckon that boats even slower than Leyton's?/forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Sounds good. Moonen is connoisseurs choice in the 18-30m bracket, they are invariably beautifully built yachts (built in holland).
