The continuing decent weather prompted something a little more adventurous this weekend with a trip out of the Medway and round into the the Swale.
Destination was a little visited creek only navigable around the top of the tide.Once a place busy with Thames barges carrying freight it is now home to a small cosy marina for raggies.A quick prior phone call ensured a berth.
The new and the old bridge carrying traffic to the Isle of Sheppey
Although there appears to be a wide expance of water the channel in the middle is very narrow and you would be wise to stick close to the bouys other than at high water.
Going past my old boat club. The Kingsferry Boat Club.Doing very well since I left, judging by the number of boats.
Approach is across drying mud and behind a little island,we went in a bit early and had about 12" under the keel at a couple of spots.
The Gale warning came over the radio as we parked.
With us going nowhere the following morning wandered down the creek to take a few pictures of the fine collection of withies which guide you in.
The top of the creek with The Ship pub to the left.
Sarah T awaiting her owners return.
