....In a 5mtr RIB??

Well would you? Or is it a silly idea?

You see me + mates = x3 5mtr RIBS and we are planning a blast across the channel from the solent area early September.

The distance & fuel range etc is nothing new for us or the boats, its just we never really been 'outside' as it were of the UK.

So would you?

no reason why not, as a rib is very seaworthy, but might be a good idea to have a larger mobo in attendance in case of need for tow, and ensure enough fuel so that you can cross in weather that does not allow a full out blat.

Yes, no prob at all if you are sensible about it, and plan well, understand the significance of the shipping lanes and crossing at right angles etc

The Chairman and one of the members of our club in fact did it last Sat, in a 19' Ribcraft and an 18' Humber Destroyer. There and back in a day. They are both old hands at it, and very experienced

Go For It,

I have done it in a 6.5m Speedboat and you are in a much better boat to cope with extreme conditions than I was. With a bit of Prior Planning it should be a breeze!

Have fun

Paul
