I am taking the family on our first trip outside the Solent this weekend for a family get together in Brighton. I have done a brief passage plan from Chichester to Brighton and have 4 waypoints I am going to use. Looking at the chart the trip doesn't appear complicated however I understand there are fishing pots around Selsey could anyone advise what the best route is around these and any other points of note.

Re: Trip to Brighton - Don\'t do it

You are aware that your trip is a fallacy.

There is no 'outside the Solent' it doesn't exist. You are heading for the edge of the world and will fall off.

Think about it, when a boat leaves the Solent, have you ever seen it come back. I know you can hear boats on the radio, but if you watched the news Steven Hawking had just revealed a new belief system about black holes.

Its a nice trip, just aim to be at Selsey Bill at slack tide if you can, then tide with you; if you can, makes it a good and shorter time wise trip, have fun./forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Thanks for your inputs, I am planning on leaving the marina about an hour before high water so hopefully will have a good run. I have prepared as much as I can for our first non Solent trip and will do final engine checks in the morning. Have a good weekend all of you will report back on Monday if I haven't fallen off the edge of world!
