Trim tab ram stuck

Morning.

I have a port side trim ram that has got stuck in the down position and won't come up. Even if I remove the hydraulic pipe to allow the oil out. I have also noticed a few drips of oil float up when trying to move it.
Any ideas?

Also not sure what one it is to replace so can I rebuild?

very likely foreign body on ram, barnacle or some such, scrape clean then try to move it.

I have an old Volvo Penta QL tab pump system. One of mine had stuck down, but breaking the pipe allowed it to raise. Turned out one of the control solenoids had burnt out. Took some searching but I did find a suitable replacement eventually.

If it is on the stop you might need to apply some physical pressure to get it started once the pipe connection is broken. Not easy in the water but a sturdy boat hook might help.
