not if it's brass, ally prop will need etching. I just clean our brass prop up with a wire brush give it a quick rub over with wet n dry paper clean with thinners then slap a few coats of trilux on.
Doesn't having a high polish on the metal also work? The brass has to have smooth mirror finish I assume to stop the little b@ggers getting a toehold. I think this means that even a slightly pitted brass/bronze prop needs painting.
yes... but the only reason i paint is to slow down the wear on the anodes. one year i left it bare and lost part of my saildrive /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif just caught it in time
I find it excellent stuff. the only problem i find is on the tips of the blades where they wizz round and cut through the water after a season they start to pit and are back to bare metal.
