I like to think that there's a certain charm in old wooden tubs like mine, which is now not far from her 20th birthday.
If nothing else, it helps forgetting the maintenance bills and concerns... :ambivalence: :D
But in my home marina there is also an old lady, which this year celebrates her 120th birthday (yes, one hundred twentieth, not a typo!).
And yesterday, we came across her while anchored, so I though that a short tribute was de rigueur... :)

Btw, just in case AndieMac is reading this: the spot in the clip is the bay along the N side of the island, where we passed along but couldn't stay due to some mistral.... while yesterday we had some southern wind instead, which made the N coast as flat as a flat thing! :encouragement:

what exactly is this boat then? Any more info?

ah, and what are you celebrating with all this decoration on yours?

V.

PS. agree with SM ;)

Nice vid, M. Though I must say your 'old tub' looks absolutely exquisite...

Don't worry SM, MM's boat is a gorgeous girl indeed, don't let him fool you by calling it an old tub :)

PS: Take him up on his offer of a cruise around his Island Paradise, you won't be disappointed, and don't forget your snorkel and goggles :encouragement:

I remember this one P, the first morning after lifting the anchor she cut in close along the shoreline, a rather unique looking vessel.

The video, although very nice, but as you know does not really do the bay/cove as much justice as it deserves. That water is seriously crystal clear.

Your ship looks the part with all her ceremonial regalia, hope the patron saint celebrations went well and your "crew" no doubt helped celebrate the festive occasion in true Island style ;) shame we missed that one!

We only got home today, as soon as we get sorted will see if there is some suitable footage from the "communal" GoPro to do a post :). Young Andie has spent a lot of time since we left you folks checking out the GoPro shops for what will no doubt be our next must have!

Yeah C, you're absolutely correct, coming to think of it.
We often spot her whenever we go at sea, in fact - though rarely as close as in the video.

Yep, yesterday night we had quite a few friends on the f/b, to look at the fireworks.
Good thing that the wooden frames are still strong...! :D

Glad to hear that your return trip went well, pls bring my (and S's) best regards also to A & A.

............Good thing that the wooden frames are still strong...! :D.................

A slight understatement skipper :) I reckon you could just fit the width of two fingers in between the substantial below waterline frames. It all goes towards creating that sensational motion at sea.

Anyway, got to stop reminiscing about the warm Med and beautiful boats.....the reality is we have landed back to a freezing 13 deg. C mid winter day and a pile of washing to do :(

I might just watch that video one more time :)

LOL, I'll see if I can put together some other clips/pics in the next weeks for you to watch, while the water will be warming further! :D

You're absolutely correct re. the hull frames, I'm not worried at all about their strength and stiffness.
It's the upper frames I was talking about, those which support the main deck and the f/b.
They are called "bagli" in IT, but must admit that I have no clue about the EN equivalent.
Bones, maybe?
