I am sorry to pass on news that Trevor Green, or Mouse, as everyone knew him, passed away today.
Mouse was a Tollesbury institution, running his boatyard by the swimming pool since the 1960s. His unhurried approach was a tonic to the ever-increasing pace of pre-Covid life, and the only time he was seen in a sweat was playing his beloved tennis. He had a wonderful turn of phrase, my favourite being his description of even the worst of predicaments as "gettin' in a muddle".
His passing could mark the end of the old Tollesbury foreshore that was run by the fishing and boatbuilding families of the village, but hopefully his son Nick will be able to continue running the yard as a going concern.
