Afternoon all,

I was a touch bored this afternoon and thought id take a quick look on the boaty sales websites and came across this oddy..
a late 70's Tremlett 42.. I did a searh on here but only seemed to find talk about either diddy ones or larger and very different 48's...

Does anyone have any info on the '42? Looks quite an interesting boat if somewhat unusual.

thanks,

Nick

The 42 was a development from the 40 ft hot-moulded timber hull and was launched in 1977 ... and about 65 were delivered up to roundabout 1985 when the hull was extended.

Aft Cabin and aft cockpit versions were available... and early 42's were fitted with 210 Ford Sabre's (about 28 knot optimistically), later 235 volvos ... and up to 335 hp Cummins driven through waterjets.

Very capable hulls and fast boats... One of the complaints have been that the are a bit roly, and subsequently have been modified with have had fuel tanks lowered further down in the hull to give a lower centre of gravity.

I used to own a 26 footer, fitted with a 180 Sabre, and sternpower outdrive, great sea boat, but the engine kept eating the leg so it had to go.

Thanks alot for that. I had heard similar information about the 48 so was interested it if applied to the 42..

I take it they are fairly narrow beam like their larger siblings?
