The programme on TV is very good, although the job is described as the most dangerous the standard of accomodation and galley facilities look pretty good to me! More luxurious than my boat.
Agreed it's a good programme (how do they manage to keep the cameras so steady?) but I think it feels a bit heavily scripted / rehearsed / edited. Ah ***!?$ mean, 'ers nae ony **&$£! sweerin.
Yeah, like last night when some poor bleeder was getting a rollocking in the wheelhouse, the Beeb just happened to have a camera up the foremast telephotoing through the wheelhouse windows AND a mic in the wheelhouse. How's that for a happy coincidence!
I have to say that I've been dismayed by the lack of swearing - I've sailed into Peterhead and I seem to remember we could hear the trawlermen cursing from the other side of the harbour. Perhaps they're angels when at sea???
