You won't go far wrong with Grand Banks subject to the usual survey but watch out for build quality on the lesser know far eastern boats. The wiring is sometimes really scary. I've heard bad things about osmosis in their hulls too but I've not seen anything too horrid. Yet.

No doubt more experienced boat prodders will have more to offer.

There's quite a slection of Grand Banks-style boats at Frejus, in the western side of the modern port there, and a dealer specialising in these. I bet you need aircon, of course. can't see any disadvantage of a boat in the med, - almost anything will do. Also slightly heavier semi-displ will be better (less bouncy) at anchor in St tropez, villefranche, and round majorca. So you need a generator and a nice dinghy too.

Careful john, he might just put his Customs and Excise uniform on and come and do a VAT inspection. Always assuming you can get him away from the Thames, apparantly he charges each boat that passes his garden a toll;-)

Well I had better be really nice then because I will be wanting my VAT refund in double-quick time - but that still doesn't mean he can be sick on my carpets.
