Daughter is just about to return from Spain, by road, with the family pooch and has been advised by a Spanish Vet that the dog will have to be purged for tapeworm and have another Pet Passport for the return journey. The dog only travelled to Spain on Brittany Ferries just over 3 weeks ago.

Question, does a pet passport last for just a single (outbound) journey and how long does pet passport last?

Must say, the vet in London seemed singularly ill informed.

Suspect from here on the dog will be will be holidaying at Walton-on-the-Naze!

If the pooch stays in an EU country for 21 days the easiest, and legitimate, route is to get it an EU passport and ignore the UK system altogether. Still need the tapeworm treatment, though.

Pet passports no longer valid from 1 January 2021 - Village Vet
Correct. We are currently in Spain. Once we get to Cascais we will sort an EU pet passport for the dog. At least one of us will then be able to roam freely without all the stupid restrictions.
