Can anyone give a 'ball-park' figure on road (or sea) transportation costs for a small yacht (24 - 26 ft) to the Med. - Southern Spain.
I'm about to take possession of an apartment in Torrevieja and there is a shortage of decent small yachts for sale down there. So buying in UK and shipping down there may be a viable alternative.

Try James on 01208 851055 mob: 07976 532866. He transported my boat two moths ago, from Essex to West Wales, very reasonable and reliable. He also does overseas

I'd be interested to know how far you've researched for a 25 footer in Spain and what you have found. We decided on the type of yacht we wanted then went all out to find one in England then drove over and collected it. The seller might have sold it under our feet but fortunately he honoured our situation and held it for us. We've had our Legend 235 swing keel and lift rudder, walk through transom, for four years now, it's just about right but becoming a little small - I feel a 25 footer like an MG Spring or similar may be sought before too long in which case Guinevere will be available ........ !

I'd probably suggest that you try a bit more research before you commit the money. There is a 26'er for sale here at the moment. Very cheap but i don't have more info at the mo but I am sure there are others about. By the time you buy and pay the costs of transport that gives you a fair budget to play with.

Let me know if you want more details of this one and I'll dig them out from the agent.

Regards

If you want

A couple of things -
You will save a lot of money if you can sail the boat to the coast of Northern Europe as transport across the Channel or North Sea adds a lot to the overall cost.
For transport, we have used Van de Wetering who seem to be about the cheapest as they do so many trips both ways, they are rarely running empty. I think they go to Alicante. Web site is here - Van De Wetering

In conversation last week a delivery from denmark through the Kiel canal to the UK cost over £5k because of weather delays (it took 3 weeks). The equivalent overground would have cost £1500. Boat was a 36' racer
