I bought some years ago a navigation programme that was sent through the U.S.Mail to Norway. It took a week and was far cheaper than UPS/DHL.

Any expereience out there to do it from Greece? The price for the goods is USD 170 and will certainly involve customs clearing.

My experience is a few years old but it used to be the case that US Mail (airmail of course)would arrive OK and often without additional charges when a courier would incur the full weight of red tape and duties etc. Also there is the point about whether the item is approved for use in the EU, many USA wifi bits are not. Good luck.

It will certainly be cheaper.........but

In December '05 I sent 2 cardboard boxes stuffed full of Teddy Bears (don't ask!) to England. By the end of January '06 I was sure I would never see either of them again....but I was wrong! They both turned up in mid Feb.

Of course UPS / DHL etc will be more expensive, but at least you'll know quickly if they've lost it.

As I've heard so many times on this forum, you get what you pay for!

I got (from US to Athens) an Amp-hour meter in a light 15X15X10 cm box in 8 days. Method was USPS, cost 6.5 US$, and no customs involved (cost of part 60 US$). Not sure if this would happen every time though...

I think it is likely to be a bit hit & miss.
We ordered some T-shirts from a US based company. Sent by mail, never arrived. Post offices at both ends investigated - no trace.
Then 7 months later we get a message to say that a box addressed to us was found in a Greek warehouse and if we want them we have to pay VAT.
We have now finally received them but I wouldn't try it again.
Maybe a courier service would be more reliable.
