Hi all,
I have just been looking at my options for this, they are either via the canals and into the Med & back along the coast (via Gib) to the Algarve. Round the outside 'coast hugging' via France , Spain, and Portugal (including the dreaded Bay of Biscay), or by road. An interesting thing I turned up on the Coast2Coast boat transport site was on the continent they are not allowed to use the motorways and effectively have to use side roads through towns and villages!. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has done this in a modest size of boat, (any one of these methods), (I have a Nimbus 3400 10 metres LOA with 3.50 metre beam & a 1 metre draught)

Last September C2C collected my Targa 34 from Torquay and dropped it in Spain (MDLs new marina in Sant Carles). Not sure what roads they used, but they did an excellent job.

I reckon the number of running hours they saved me was well worth the expense! 31C here today and water like glass! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I also used C2C last year to bring back a Targa 34 from Port Leucate to Poole. They had it back in double-quick time and she just needed a hose down in order to be ready to go.

When you work out the fuel saved and engine hours run you really have to have a good reason to do it any other way than by road.

The Bay is not a problem - if you get the time of the year right, also a lot depends on your speed and whether you have the fuel endurance to go straight across.

Are you in a hurry to get there or is it a relaxed 'adventure' type trip? If so the coast hopping might be better.

Also consider the costs - bearing in mind fuel/marina/victuals/crew/skipper/maintainance/wear and tear costs compared with having it taken by road.
