pic 8401 still could be echo trans.. if it has a really thick block it goes through on the outside of the hull. You can see similarities from my pic below.

... The threaded shaft is 16mm diameter and 81mm long.
The seafarer echo sounder with the rotary flashing light used this transducer and that must be 50 yrs ago ?
Mine is new. Only difference being the threaded shaft is much shorter than it used to be. Its possible that overtightning the nut puts undue strain of its shaft leading to snapping. Its just really bad luck yours snapped off when undone. Couldnt be avoided.
