Transom Mount Transducer on Motor Sailer

Hi Guys
Do any of you have any idea's on installing a transom mount transducer on a motor sailer with shaft drive?
I know I should be installing a through hull transducer but they are very expensive and my Raymarine Dragonfly came with a transom mount transducer I also can't install this inside the hull and shoot through because of the downscan images.
I was just wondering if anyone else had done anything like this before and could give me some advice.

I must be missing something here. "I also can't install this inside the hull and shoot through because of the downscan images." Is there some impediment to receiving "downscan" images - whatever they are?

My fishfinder also came with a transom mount bracket for the transducer but I removed the bracket and epoxied the transducer inside the bilge and get all the data displayed - I think ... perhaps something is missing but I'm not aware of it.

Hi thanks for the post as far as I can understand is that the downscan images cannot be sent through the hull I'm hoping somone can give me more details regarding the downscan.
