I have a Garmin GPS72 Handheld and a Navman Tracker 5505. As I keep the handheld as a backup I would like to transfer the waypoints from the Navman to the Garmin. Is there a way of getting them to talk to each other? Via a computer maybe?

Any ideas or suggestions please.

Yes, transfer first from Navman to a PC using a serial cable via NMEA transfer, and then from the PC to the GPS72 using garmins optional serial data cable. You will need software on the PC such as GPSTrackmaker, EasyGPS, or OziExplorer, all free for basic versions. I usually transfer the other way around (ie use garmin as master and transfer to CMAPs PC Planner software). Garmin has better software options, so I've stopped using C-MAP and now transfer Garmin to Garmin via MapSource. You could optionally make up a direct cable for NMEA transfer direct from the Garmin to the Navman (ie Garmin bare wire power data cable linked to Navman NMEA cable). I prefer the PC route as I can edit and tidy up the data as well as using it as a passage planner and backup.

Thanks for the detailed reply. I have the cable for the Garman,Do you know ware I can get a cable for the Navman? or can I adapt one?
