G'day Reg,

Drop the transducer into a plastic bag and splash a little water under it to make sure there is no air trapped under it, move it around to find a location that has good readings and good access, do this when underway in case turbulence is a problem.

To secure it, an off cut of PVC pipe held down with some blue tack will hold the slow set resin, mix and pour, then wait for any bubbles to surface, pop in the transducer at an angle to start with, this should help prevent air being trapped under it, rotate it a couple of times to remove any remaining air and hang it by it's wire till the resin sets.

If the tube is likely to get stepped on when the floors are lifted, you could glass the PVC pipe to hull, note, if you plan to do this, run a very hot heat gun or flame over the PVC prior to starting the job, the burning will ensure the resin and glass will stick to the PVC.

By the way, welcome to the forums and your third post, good to see some new blood; no doubt you will get more advice from other helpful forumites.

Good luck with the project and Avagoodweekend.....

Hi Oldsaltoz - thanks for help and kind welcome. Sorry to be obtuse but are you refering to glassing the t. inside the hull or through the hull - I thought it had to be drilled thro' and secured - I said I didn't know my a from my e!

G'day Reg,

After drilling the hole/s you must coat the raw glass to prevent moisture entering the hull; this best done by drilling oversize, sealing with an epoxy resin and, resize after the resin has cured.

Hope this helps.
