I am hoping to get my competent crew finished this Easter with a cruise to Cherbourg and then onto the Channel Islands. The boat is a 44 ft ketch and the yacht master is a real in at the deep end old boy/old school type, so no slouching lots of hands on training till you drop.

The cost for the four day cruise is £300 but if I can get 5 people together it drops to £270, it doesn’t matter what level you’re at, in fact some one going for day skipper or yacht master would be ideal. I think I have 3 people and therefore need two more.

His culinary skills are dire but I think my friend and I will take over the galley for the duration.

Finally I am led to believe he will allow us to turn this event into a bit of a grog run.

Any one interested.

Advertising eh?

What do the rules state?????????????????????

Shall we get all the sailing schools to advertise on here??????????/

On a sailing course with a Grog run, Nice school ...........How does the RYA rate this as being professional??????

A bl00dy disgrace!!!

Prawn.

No!!

This is a forum not a space for advertising cheap booze cruises with a price tag, Oh you can get your comp crew ticket aswell!!!!

Very professional outfit aren't they?

Lets hear from some of the other sailing schools, or students of, and give prices of them all. I don't believe I'm the only one who thinks this is below the belt, or is this the way things are going on this site?

There are other BETTER boating forums out there! That never allow this blatant commercial advertising of an RYA course running out side of the syllabus and using it as a booze run.

Great School for the RYA to do one of their mystery shops on I think!!

Love to read about this post in The Monthly Mags!

Come on where are the MODS?

Sounds like a good trip and on a 44 footer it should be comfortable. I would have been very interested but I have a trip lined up for the same time (Bristol - Dover).
Have a good trip.

What happens around here is that an ad post gets ignored and sinks without trace in few hours. if you keep pumping it to stay at the top then you're only helping the advertiser.

OTOH, doesn't seem like an ad post to me, just one of us trying to get a few more bodies on the lugger so he can save some beer vouchers for Cherbourg.

Don't be silly Ken, it is blatant!!!

I've highlighted it to the Moderators and nothing???????????

When I was racially abused on here during a rugby spat, again nothing done, why?

Is there are any Sea schools on here that would like to advertise spare spaces on their courses on here?

Bet there is.

It seems that you are alone in thinking it is blatant advertising and below the belt. What makes you think that the "MODS" will share your opinion?

Me thinks you are still looking for the 3 Billy Goats Gruff... arent you?

Trouble is someone sneaky and mean might start doing this sort of thing to gain an advantage over the other schools by posting "me and mates need an extra person" which is in fact a cynical advert. It's the thin of the wedge.
On the face of it it seems sincere, but there are baddies out there looking for that all elusive word of mouth advertising.

I think you're quite right in principle JJ, and I agree that it's something one needs to be on one's guard against.

But as I was about to point out to Koolie (before realising what a waste of time that would be), the OP has actually been around here for a little while now and has built up a track record of posts that, together with his profile, should give reassurance that he isn't advertising in disguise.

Of course people do go to extraordinary lengths sometimes to build up convincing backgrounds for nefarious purposes, but if that were the case with Incompetent_Crew, he would have done so for an extremely small return for the investment of time, given the economics of his post above.

Yeah, but "Mr Incompetent Crew" has been around for a short while, enough I think for forumites to get his measure. I didn't read "advertising" into the post, in fact was tempted to volunteer, since need to acquire skills / cert in immediate future.

Unfortunately, Easter is out, but am thinking about Glénans during the summer, together with my beautiful, intelligent, voluptuous, blonde 23 year old daughter. Anyone want to make up a crew, or is this advertising?

PS only really rich princes, exempt from military service, need apply

I see through this now, you're al in it together to save IO £70, this has been a masterful plan dating bck to when Oliveoyl joined in 2006 and moved to Belgium to cover his tracks.
As it happens my wife says I can't come with you and your duaghter, though.

On the upside I've just been lakesailored for the fist time in my otherwise lacklustre YBW career. Also, I'm not sure but I believe this may be the first time that a troll and lakesiloring have been combined in a single thread. Do I get a prize or something?

joking aside and now advertising myself, i'm going on Annabel J - see it on the web www.annabelj.co.uk - through classic sailing in May to FRance - this looks an amazing sailing trip on a Bristol Channel pilot boat.

Eh jezjez, gerroff, I'm a she, therefore the mum, and as stated, only looking for eligible princes as co-crew.
Does anybody have the email address of Albert Grimaldi?
