As title suggest, just bought a used Avon rib off ebay. It is on a trailer, I was thinking of towing it to the boat in Spain...via the ferry to Santander. What documentation is needed for such an endeavour? Thanks

I’ve lived in Poland, Italy and Spain. Each country has their own laws regarding trailers but I’d have thought with U.K. reg plates you’d be ok with U.K. papers. Ask your insurance company if they can provide proof that the trailer is insured as in many countries trailers are insured separately. A decent receipt for the boat would be advisable, as would good security on the trailer.

I’d be more inclined to drive it down through France, I find the ferry incredibly boring and I’d guess very expensive with a trailer.

Make sure you give it some miles before you go. I had a 17 feet speed boat on a trailer and i could hardly get down the road without a flat tyre.

it was many years ago but i believe was due to miserable alignment. I bought a new trailer and sold the old one for almost as much as the new one cost. The joys of Exchange and Mart !

Just travelled Portsmouth to Bilbao on the ferry. Bit boring but a nice restful time, ship was luxurious compared to the Italian ones, they were awful. Just driven back from Sardinia via ferry to Genoa and then through France towing a boat. No one bothered me at the port, I guess they saw the GB plates and thought there might be too much paperwork so ignored us. Never been stopped when towing but I had a receipt for trailer and boat along with insurance in French/Spanish and Italian in case they pulled me over.
