I happened to turn my trailer over yesterday for a mid-summer inspection while the boat is afloat. I was horrified to discover that both suspension units (of the Indespension rubber-insert type) had split along 50% of the length of the box-section due to corrosion. Three sides of the box was affected. The net result was that the whole wheel and hub assembly was ready to detach itself probably on the next journey.

I last checked the units in 2005 and while there was surface corrosion there was nothing to suggest this degree of damage was coming up.

You may wish to check yours - while the boats afloat. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I've seen something similar with the full width axle units as well. The rust can explode them from inside
