This subject seems a regular one here, so you may like to know one of those glossy 4*4 mags has an article about all those confusing weights ,lengths and also some tips. However, I know that there are additional stipulations for boats, as opposed to other loads, and I dont think the interpretation in the magazine that 7m is max boat length you can tow is correct. ( It all gets rather vague with the absence of a definition of hitch and A-frame for a start...)Otherwise, its pretty detailed-may be of use ....

There's also a trailering supplement attached to November PBO, plugging a couple of IPC's 4X4 publications, so they are obviously leveraging their assets across a horizontal client base. Or recycling the same material across several of their titles. Or something!

Seriously, though, the PBO supplement looks quite useful, even if it does repeat some stuff from MBM a while back about trailing to the Med.

What are the rules re towing in the outside lane of a 3 lane motorway? I thought you could'nt within the law, but the abuse I got from the guy with the 4x4 made me think i could be wrong!

Many years ago my Dad got a telling off for towing a trailer in the outside lane - not only that but he was doing over 70mph /forums/images/icons/crazy.gif.

Damn fine trailer - build to carry two Go-Karts - one above the other - is was built in the early 60's and was road tested on the back of an Aston Martin at over 100mph. or so legend has it !!

I bort it off him for £50 and now it is regularly used on the Land Crusier.

Technically fine & 3 points, but as a regular M25 commuter it seems to be almost the norm these days. As does trucks in the outside lane but thats another story!
