The only details that I know of relate to an American WW2 Liberty ship that sunk off the English coast during the war years and that it was carring munitions and that it split in two.I think its called the Montgomery but I'm not 100% sure. Can anyone out there help me.:)

She lies off the Medway/Sheerness approaches - masts visible and more at low water.
Marked well by buoyage. Apparently surveyed from time to time - said to be more dangerous if salvage attempted.

In 1967, I was working for Trinity House (THV "Ready", Lights & Buoys) and we had to buoy the wreck! It was a considered a very hazardous opperation due to vibrations as the wreck was very unstable!
