Being an old Luddite as far as electronics is concerned I was wondering if anyone knew where I can buy a mechanical towed log either new from a manufacturer, or used in good order!!!!! Can't understand why they have become so rare. Much more accurate than these electronic gubbingses when doing any sort of distance!!!!Hope you all had a good Christmas and will have a happy New Year!

Well - my most recent version came from ebay - but I doubt it will work well with the new boat (at 15 to 20 knots). It's purely a get me home backup device in my case.

Boat jumbles, etc.

Difficult. Classic Marine had a very nice Knotmaster III, just before Christmas, but I told Ian Wright about it and he snapped it up!

Towed logs are very much more accurate. Personally I live in dread of losing the "fish" from my Excelsior IV - no idea where another one would come from!

Try Bacon and Associates in Annapolis, or Sailorman in Ft. Lauderdale. I'm fairly certain they would ship it.
