I would if possible like to anchor near Toward Point on the Firth of Clyde. Does anyone have experience of anchoring in Achavoulin Bay, near the sailing club, about 1.7 NM west of the Point.
Is it suitable for an overnight stop if the wind direction is favourable?
Although Achavoulin Bay is shown as an anchorage on the chart, the CCC Sailing Directions only mention an anchorage in a bay just to the north of Toward Point, but I can’t identify that location on the chart and it doesn’t seem to be marked as an anchorage.
(I assume the moorings in Achavoulin Bay are private and belong to the sailing club).
Any advice or tips would be very welcome.
Thank you.

Achavoulin Bay looks fine as long as the wind is offshore or it's calm. There's a wide area of sea between 2 and 10 metres depth which is what you need. There's a cable and a wreck that are easy to avoid, and there may be left over mooring junk down there, so an anchor trip line would be a good idea. On Google maps aerial view it all looks clean.

On Navionics there is an anchor symbol to the north of the point just north of the Innellan beacon, and it's also got a flat area at the right depth, but there are also rocks not far away, outfall pipes, and an isolated rock. It's also not really a bay, but would be better in W to SSW winds than Achavoulin Bay.
