My not very old and not very abused Yamaha 4hp has got some paint blistering on it's leg just above the skeg. I scraped it with my nail and have a 20 pence size bit of metal to paint.

I was thinking of just buying some paint from Halfords and touching it up. Does anyone have any tips on what paint to buy? Or how best to touch up the paint? I did try our chandlers for some Yamaha paint but they didn't have anything. Is there any "special" properties about the Yamaha paint for outboard legs e.g. corrosion resistance?

Thanks.

Yamaha do have their own paints, have a look on Ebay. For touch up you can use other ones (Hammerite is good) but its really important to use the correct etching primer.

Yep one of the few things I do use Hammerite for. I've mixed some blue and some silver to match my Evinrude.
Not actually bothered with the "special metals" primer although I do have some.

Paint it in any old Dulux you have on a shelf in the shed. That way it will look like an old piece of junk and not be attractive to thieves!

I keep it simple and use Hammerite.. (smooth finish). Relatively inexpensive and tends to do the job just fine..
