I have a big old one piece proctor mast. It’s solid but has a fair few chips in the paint now. I’ve ready various accounts on here of touch ups.

Some just abrading and then using white hammerite. Other with Awlgrip.

Has anyone done this and could give me some effective methods after having seen the effects for several years? @vyv_cox have you done this?

The problem, which I have found, is that older masts are seldom a bright white and touch-up jobs result in a piebald appearance. I have used a spray etch primer suitable for aluminium, followed by the best match car spray paint. In my case, taking a flake of paint to Halfords revealed that Audi arctic white matched my once blue/white mast. The car paint finish seems to last reasonably well.
