For all sorts of boring reasons about family stuff, I've had to split my cruise and thus I am returning to the boat by car tomorrow. I'll then be gone for a couple of weeks.
My wifes car will have been abandoned in Southampton where the boat will hopefully end up and thus I will collect my car from Torquay in 3 weeks or so.

Unfortunately MDL torquay will not let me use the bertholders car park (even though it was only a 1/3 full yesterday) and I have to park in a pay and display at £10/day. I'm normally full of praise for MDL but this is really poor.

Does anyone know of a more economical long term car park near Torquay Marina?

No one can stop you parking on the road . So one option is to park out of town and get the bus back .. Have a look what goes by the entrance and follow its tracks back .. Could save you a packet and might only take 10 mins .. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Some (fairly) local advice. There is on street parking in walking distance (10 minutes) of the marina. Drive to the clock tower roundabout and turn down the side of the old harbour, then follow the road to the left up the hill. The first parking is outside Torbay Yacht Club. Usually full, but you never know. Then first left (sharp) at the end of the yacht club garden. There are four or five spaces here. If these are full go down the hill, turn right at the bottom and head up. I have never failed to find parking on this road - even during the regatta in mid-Summer.

Jazz - How recent did you park in this area?
Parking meters were introduced at the end of last season throughout Torquay - in fact particularly round the Clock Tower and up the hill past the Royal Torbay Yacht Club.

Elessar - if you have trouble, we might be able to find some space in our drive but we live about a 10 min drive from the harbour.

When I was there a couple of months ago, they had a full weekend's parking for £1, buy a ticket in any Torquay car park and it was valid for as long as you like until the Monday - might be worth checking if that offer is still on...?

I must admit that it was not within the past year so there is every chance that my information is now out of date. But I am sure the plan will still work. At the very least there must still be parking on the road just before the turn for Kent's Cavern. This is still only 15 minutes to the marina.

The Park for a £1 scheme is finished. Only ran for April. You could try MDL Brixham and catch the Ferry over to Tqy - or get the bus!

There is free street parking up past 'The Bowling Alley (Hollywood Bowl)'. 10 minute walk back down hill, but leaving it there for 3 weeks may be asking for a bit of trouble if it's a posh car.......think I'd try to blag parking at either The Imperial Hotel or The Grand Hotel for that length of time

Thanks all for your help. I've now successfully parked for free, but obviously don't want to say where!

Hurricane - thank you so musch for the offer, although I didn't need to take you up on it I really appreciate it. You are a gentleman.
