Hi everyone. Just painted the topsides on my 17ft Dory with International Toplac. How long do i have to wait before puttung boat back in water. Been reading various technical sheets and other chats but not very clear (matbe its just me!). Ive only put ine coat of Toplac in so no having to wait for other sublayers to cure justvthevtop coat of Toplac. Painted topsides on warm sunny day. Some chats say 2 days to wait but if just one coat has been put on does it have to be that long? Thanks for your advice.

Toplac should dry in a few hours in current weather conditions (assuming you're in the UK). Then it can go back in the water. Most people would use more than 1 coat of Toplac.

Thanks PVB. Yeah i will be putting another coat on at some point just trying to get out for a days fishing this week so just checking itll be ok to go back in prob Wednesday. Assume then that answers my other thread about how longvto leavevit before putting letters of boat name on top of the Toplac. Thanks.

If you look at the Toplac data sheet, you'll see that there are recommended maximum times for overcoating. If you want the stuff to work properly, follow the instructions.

Only 1 coat may be required for touchup/repair. so I suppose it all depends on what he is aiming for.

If exceeding the maximum time to overcoat, there is no problem, the OP will just have to sand in between his coats. It might well affect how glossy the final appearance is, but personally I think high gloss is gash anyway.
