I mentioned this in the bit about thieving on the Classic Boats forum, but think it worth mentioning here on its' own.

My rigid tender has a brass threaded bung, which I take home each time partly so the boat drains, partly to render the boat useless to joyriders ( along with the chain & padlock ) and partly to avoid the bung itself going walkies, it was £14.00+ last time I bought one.

As I live in dread of driving 45 miles then finding I've left the bung behind, I have a holder for it in the car.

The red top from a WD40 can is exactly right to take the usual 1" brass bungs, so the red top fitted on the centre console means I can always be sure I have the thing with me.

Only a plastic bung for a plastic dinghy but I tie it to the boat keys. .... Just got to figure a way of not forgetting the boat keys.

So as not to forget boat keys we each have said keys on our key rings. These also have a key for each car and a house key.
With luck we should never find ourselves locked out.

I know someone who called his boat ' Amnes ' after ' the Goddess of Amnesia ' because he was always forgetting his boat keys...

The boat keys have a special place in my car too, I think it's supposed to be a mug holder but I can always glance over and see they're there.

That leaves the oars - visible in the car - rowlocks - passenger footwell with a spare set always in the boot - and painter, which I could improvise at a pinch...

Last week when I was very tired I locked my jacket in the boat with my phone and all my keys - boat, car and flat - last week and was slightly panicked for a moment until I realised I'd spent all afternoon taking the window out. I was able to reach through the hole and get everything back.
