I myself boat all along the south coast and am after new ideas of places and things to do and try along the coast. I thought a few ideas together here may give me and some others to try new places

I my self love Lymington, Yarmouth and very fond of swanage. I have family in swange so often stop there and get the steam train out to Corfe for lunch.

Lymington yacht havens great with a lovely town and a stone throw from Yarmouth with a lovely little village and a great places to eat. George hotel is worth a visit And Coaching Bugle inn.

So who else has some ideas ?

Ian

Pompey for the historic dockyard, and Chichester for the sheer beauty of the harbour and surrounding country... purely my view of course.. agree with you re. Yarmouth and Lymington by the way... :)

East Cowes (the quieter side) and stroll up the hill to Osborne House. There's the Lifeboat pub at East Cowes Marina with good beer, reasonable food and nice outside seating to watch the world go by. Catch the water taxi or take the floating bridge to West Cowes which is livelier with plenty of pubs and eateries. The Union Inn (Fullers) pub just down the alley on the right at the northern end of the high street highly recommended for the best pint of HSB anywhere and great burgers and pies.

I agree with all of that as well, apart from the bit about HSB.. there's no such thing as a good pint of HSB... :D

Newtown Creek - Beach BBQ / Overnight
Beaulieu River - The Master Builders
Keyhaven / Hurst Castle - Beach BBQ
Colwell Bay - lunch at The Hut

some great ideas here keep them coming.
I myself stayed at east Cowes and drunk in the pub on the marina side and was impressed .. a trip up to the folly is not bad too and I hear that some weekend nights can be a good crack

You said "South Coast" but everything mentioned so far hinges around the Solent, what is your area of interest?

Devon and Cornwall are beautiful with some lovely harbours to visit but maybe further than you were thinking.

Exactly! Not ventured that far yet so after ideas of more places to explore. I'm based in poole so quite central.

Furthest I gone west so far is lulworth cove.

Thanks

Ian
