Top opening fridges blues

If you have one of those two-legged devil folding things, there is one workaround that a friend who saw me bleeding offered.

You insert a 4 inches long pipe of adequate width and put a vertical screw as a stopper for the pipe. So when you open the top, the pipe falls and stops at the screw preventing the mechanism to fold until you raise it yourself.

The tops on my fridge, just fold right back on each other; the two leaves lift off for cleaning, etc. The top is retained by barrel bolts in the event of knock down.
