Hello please can anyone tell me is it safe to use Tonval skin fittings below the waterline?. As i remember a few years ago these were found to be unsuitable due to corrosion, is this still the same?

One word - NO. Tonval is only BRASS - 60% Copper/40%Zinc with a little bit of lead to help machining. I assume you are talking about seawater? In freshwater it should be OK. A lot of Chandlers/suppliers call it a Bronze but this is incorrect.......
Bronze skin fittings are 2½ to 3 times the cost of Tonval - see www.aquafax.co.uk

The quick answer is NO! Make sure your fittings are gunmetal bronze or at least a grade of brass that is resistant to de-zincification.
For those that followed the thread I still have not seen a definitive reply from ASAP supplies that reports what the various manufacturers who's fittings they sell are made out of. They promised to do this before Christmas and to my knowledge have never come up with the goods. Why am I not surprised?

So there is! I take it back. ASAP have taken our comments on board it seems.....
I am interested that there are blanks in the information though. Notably Blakes who I would have thought would come clean....
