Did you notice tonights Solent forecast from OnlineWeather.com?

Windspeed has been in excess of 35kts most of the day and gusts up to 44knots logged on ChiMet, with wave heights 1.5 - 2metres, with a well predicted and charted secondary low coming across.

So what was the forecast issued at 18.30 today? 'Winds ... 3 - 7mph, sea slight.'

Didnt they look out the window?

Same problem on Saturday. We had brisk WNW of Force 4-5 giving excellent sailing.
Forecast from OnlineWeather.com that morning was for windspeeds of 4-6mph.

Could easily have missed a great day out if I'd believed it.

The worst I think is wpindex.com where I have never seen more than 8 knots forecast for Portsmouth!

The situation has been quite difficult this weekend, not to forecast but to transmit in the meagre amount of time allowed by radio stations. Forecast for Thames issued by Oostende, Den Helder and Niton on Saturday all said something like SE 5-6 veering NW 6-7. The synoptic chart showed that this would probably be the case in areas of Thames near to UK, but here in Holland there was an area of low pressure between two fronts that barely changed all weekend. We had E3 on Saturday and SE 2 Sunday, although we are in Thames also.

Metcheck.com

We were in Corwall over the weekend. The forecast on the Beeb gave no indication at all of a Gale until I believe Saturday evening - which came in in the early hours of Sunday Morning.

Metcheck.com - gave the warning on Thursday, and their 5 day synoptic charts proved to be very good. I use them a lot - they forecast this week 30 days ago as being the start of the Atlantic depressions. How right they were
