Hello,
We have just had a fantastic few days in Tollesbury. Picked up a rope just off Jaywick and might have bent a prop blade but hey ho.
Wondered what route people take to cross the Thames estuary to North Foreland from the Blackwater?

Cheers, Colin.

Fisherman's Gat not Foulger's. Keep just outside the buoyage in Fisherman's if there is shipping about (seems rarer these days). The buoyage marks the 8.3m controlling depth for ships so there is ample just outside the buoys (I have discussed this with the PLA).

And please, please trust my chartlet of the SW Sunk swatchway. It is up to date and your chart plotter won't be unless the chart is issued post May this year!

If you leave the Blackwater at half flood it hardly matters which way you go. Coming back is a different matter altogether.

........there was a certain perverse enjoyment in crossing the SW Sunk where the chartplotter showed solid green lumps.
I concur: Below are TG's waypoints and my track from a few weeks ago. In practice, there was far less water in the Spitway than across SW Sunk.

The line to SW is my track from 2013. I suspect that section may now really be green.

Quite right about the 2013 track, that is mainly 0 or 0 now. You are also right about the Spitway. I keep promising myself to do that and the Ray Sand but somehow the wind always seems to be getting up to much for accurate data this year.
