In the past when I have visited Tollesbury it has been as part of a club outing so this has always involved eating at the club in the marina after the inevitable drinks and nibbles on a member's boat.

Is there any other good eateries within walking distance of the marina or would it be best to keep with the club's fare?

Breakfast in the Greasy Spoon hundred yards up the road.

Doesnt look much from outside(!) but the food is pretty good.

Within walking distance you are pretty much limited to the marina clubhouse or, as Ian says, the sailing club www.tollesburysc.co.uk which is just a few minutes walk next to the sail lofts.

Meals are a very informal, find your own table, affair. This Friday's menu is:

Roast lamb with fresh veg
Veggie loaf

Rhubarb and ginger crumble with custard or ice cream

£8.00

Serving Starts at 7.00pm
Bookings optional, but to avoid disappointment please book by Thursday

An Indian takeaway has opened in the industrial estate just around the corner (5-10 minutes walk). You can't sit down there but they told us they would deliver to the marina. I haven't tried it but it smelt good.

Rival Redwing, I haven't tried the Indian but it's very easy to find. Follow the road as if you were going to the village until you get to a small industrial estate on the left. It's literally only a few minutes walk, much nearer the marina than the village. The takeaway is in there. It's an industrial building, not a shop.
It might be worth asking in the marina or clubhouse if they have a menu and/or if it's any good.

Ruby's at Tolleshunt D'Arcy does a mean curry.
Bit far to walk (3 miles) but if you could go for lunch by bus.

King's Head in Tollesbury village used to do food, not sure if it still does.

Not an eatery, but the butcher in Tollesbury is well worth a visit. Traditional sawdust on floor etc. Their bacon is the best we have tasted on the East Coast.

If that is the pub on the corner: they certainly didn't do lunchtime food last year but were more than happy for us to sit en terrace and consume products from the bakers opposite (providing of course we drank their beer!)
