Pre summer cruise checklist is getting bigger and bigger...

Jabsco quiet flush is making strange noises and also backfilling. So, that means Friday is bog day....

Got a service kit, taking the mech apart and refitting. Dread comes to mind... Wish me luck :disgust:

Almost easier to simply replace the whole thing.

Let's hope that it hasn't been epoxied / glassed in like on some Targa 34's :)!

If you ever own a Sealine SC35, do not, under any circumstances, allow the holding tank to become 100% full.
The sign of impending doom is that a flush results in the water level returning to a couple of inches above the base of the U-bend.

Stick some bleach down it b4 you take it apart.
Short exposure unlikely to cause harm to the rubbers.
But I’d replace it

This is totally wrong advice - for a raw water flush toilet (like in the T40), adding bleach accelerates the build-up of scale in the pipework from the toilet to the holding tank. Never use bleach to clean a raw-water flush toilet.

On the T40, the only bit of the black water system that is truly inaccessible is the 5m pipe from the diverter valve to the holding tank. That's fitted before the saloon floor moulding goes down and there is no way of getting it out without major surgery. Everything else is removeable, albeit with a bit of effort.

I've used Odourlos liquid without much bad happening.
Apart from the overflow, but that wasn't due to Odourlos.

Flush it with boiling water and detergent first, then it will all be pretty clean when you pull it apart.

Or. leave descaler and detergent in it for a week and flush it with copious amounts of water. I do this every month now and no issues....

Thanks, yes I will certainly look to make it as pleasant as possible give the circumstances!!!

The weather over Easter this year (when I normally hope to be going out for my "shake down" sail for the year) was so bad that I ended up servicing both loos. (Manually, not electric). Stripping the whole things down and replacing the joker valves was a lot less unpleasant than I was expecting.

All done. Wasn’t too bad.... Seacocks shut, hoses off, toilet removed and took the system off the back.

It wasn’t lovely in there but removed some clogging, serviced it, replaced joker valve and put back together. Only issue was there is a macerator housing that was stuck fast in the toilet and it broke apart when it came out. Luckily, a company down the road had a replacement so I could finish the job.

Anyhow, many a shower later and disinfectant a plenty, bog is now working as it should.
