tohatsu 9.8/9.9??

whats the difference between these two outboards?dont tell me .1 i intend to purchase one by mail order and get shipped to ireland (any good links)and use it on an avon 310 rib.thanks in advance.

A heck of a lot of weight, the 9.8 has the best power to weight ratio of any engine of its size. Basically the same engine as the 6 and 8 hp, whereas the 9.9 is the same as a 15 hp, with a lot more weight.

I also have just bort a 9.8 for use on a 3.1 Avon RIB. Great minds and all that!!

I was recently in the same position recently when I was looking for a Mariner 4 and got a good quote from http://www.billhigham.co.uk (also does Tohatsu), however, with p&p to Ireland etc it proved cheaper buying locally. I would suggest looking for 10%-12.5% off list price). Also got some good quotes from a local Suzuki dealer - Outboard Services Ltd, Co Down. Tel: 028 9181 6878
