Tohatsu 3.5HP 4 stroke

Hi there,

I have a 5 year old outboard that seems to start well in neutral but every time I put it into forward gear the revs drop off and it dies and cuts out. I have stripped and cleaned the carb and there is fresh fuel in it.

Any ideas?

Have you tried new plug.

Nothing wrong with the plug and it fires up quickly

It’s suffering from Tohatsu Covid 20.
Tohatsu MFS3.5B idling problem

Possibly not getting enough fuel because of the type of filter used. If it has the internal inline filter as in mine, once I removed it, ran a lot better. That was a 2007 model.
