I have a Tohatsu 3.5B2 purchased in 2009.
The soft rubber washer which seals the breather hole in the petrol cap has developed a tear, probably from over tightening. It sits under a white plastic piece which has "handles" for finger tightening.
Is it possible to buy the washer by itself. We've had this issue before and had to buy the whole cap, which is quite expensive given that all that I need is a washer.
So far I've failed to find anyone who will sell me a washer. Anyone know of a source for these?
I've tried a tap washer but its too thick. In sliced it in half but have ended up with an uneven surface which I suspect will allow it to leak.

Cheers

It is not available as a separate part

See the parts list at http://www.tohatsuoutboardparts.com...alog MFS2-2.5B-3.5B (2009) - (00221052-1).pdf

Your only hope other than buying a complete new cap is to cut one from a piece of thin petrol resistant material.

I had this problem and solved it by finding some thin-ish rubber sheet and cutting a new washer. Must be petroleum-resistant, I think I got nitrile rubber. Use the torn one as a template.

This sounds like a great plan. However....
I'm struggling to find a supplier for this on-line. The stuff on e-bay is "commercial" and it says it isn't resistant to petrol. Anybody got a link for the petrol resistant stuff in small qty?
