It seems that its not possible to buy the fuel cap breather seal (black rubber seal between the white "screw" and the black fuel cap) from Tohatsu. Mine has a small tear in it probably due to overtightening. Does anyone know of a source for one of these. A new fuel cap is around £20, I've tried using a piece of bicycle inner tubing to fashion a replacement but it leaked. Also tried a piece of rubber door-mat; same result.

Thanks.

Geoff

I have replaced several washers on pressure lamps with ones cut from offcuts of Treadmaster. Basically a cork and rubber matrix. Put cork gasket into ebay you can buy a sheet that will last you a lifetime for minimum pounds.

I had the same problem and stupidly used a tap washer which disintegrated with the fuel and blocked the small breather hole !
Second attempt has proved very good made with a thickish piece of leather.

Go to a builder's merchants. They usually have a range of plumbing seals and the outlet seal from a cistern would probably cut down well to suit your requirement.

Its only the small washer on the vent screw .. at least I think that what he means.

Test any bits of plumbers stuff in some gasoline for a few days to be sure it's suitable.

A fibre washer might do the trick or it might be too hard
