Like many others the 'piddle pipe' on my engine was barely dribbling, however when I took the cover off, it was fine. The problem was the acute bend in the pipe as it leaves the cylinder block and has a tight turn immediately. This was giving a constriction.
The cure was to drill a hole in the cover adjacent to the cylinder block fitting (conveniently directly behind the fuel tap!) that allows the pipe to exit more easily.
