not a bad afternoon with my electrical tester!

firstly, put fresh switches on the water and shower as they didnt light up. discovered theres power on the water pump wires, so will try and add water to see if it pressureises.

shower... only 2 wires... located the 3rd main power wire in the depths to fish out and also restored power, again no noise but would there be a float switch on that?

old stereo removed, new digital stereo fitted, with usb, sd card and aux support and a remote control - even sounds fine! for 17 bucks i cant fault it.

1 set of ambient led's powered in the mid berth along with the usb socket, just waiting on more switches to arrive to finish properly.

cooker... now its the 1st time ive had a good look at it. it trips the 240v instantly, and im glad it does as i found broken wires internally. i also found it is a uk 240v effort, i thought it was a 110v unit.

is this worth sorting and if so... how? wire repair? element replacement? obviously by a qualified sparky.

secondly do the alcohol units look ok to use? ive no experience with them, i assume i just fill the drums with the relevant fluid and light with a match from above?

as far as the alcohol stove is concerned, they are simple to fill and use.

If you don't have any specialist Origo fuel, then methylated spirits is fine but a slight smell. Tilt the can so that the gauze is vertical; the lower part of the opening is the fill level which takes about a litre and bit - enough for about 4 hours.

When finished with the stove and it has cooled, cover the gauze with a piece of thin neoprene or rubber to stop any evaporation of the fuel when not in use.

ok makes sense.. would also explain the thick rubber circle that was on top of 1 of the units.
do you light it like that or with the hob down using the burn level/heat setting?

Light it with the hob down.....a gas match works well. Turning the control button all the way closed extinguishes it. I repaired the electrical side of mine by installing a replacement domestic cooker element that cost about ten quid.had to adapt the cooker a little but it worked fine.
