Today\'s Observer

reported Emma Richards progress. It stated that if she finishes the race she will be the first (& youngest) British Woman to sail round the world. I thought Ellen did that.
Have I missed something?

Re: Today\'s Observer

She's taking part in the 'Around Alone' round the world race, and there seems to be a great deal of confusion in the press and in these forums about the records (do a search here for emma and cape horn?)

She's the first british female to successfully take part in this race, but it's often reported as the 'first' woman to do the round the world, round the horn etc

I guess the journalists see the round the world part, and the first woman bit, and write an article about it. I haven't seen the Observers contribution, and maybe they did make it clear that this is the Around Alone race they are talking about. I suspect the PR for the Around Alone aren't adverse to a bit of publicity, and don't clarify things as well as they may, or maybe people are just reading parts of articles or posts and misinterpreting
