I am visiting Tobago for the first time to have a break and to look at a couple of boats with a view to buying out there, and later cruising...All comments on the Island welcome, sailing related,or otherwise....

You'd be better off going to Trinidad and heading for Chaguaramus where there are plenty of boats for sale. Tobago doesn't have a marina, only anchorages. Chaguaramus is one of the hurricane season destinations and many boats don't make it out of there for varying reasons. Mine included. (I plan to move her to Tortola soon, to make her more saleable).

Hope this helps.

p.s. you can fly from Scarborough airport to Port O' Spain for TT$100 (approx £8.00) and catch taxi to Chaguaramus for approx £20.00. There are two hotels in Chaguaramus, Corel Cove and a really, really posh one.

You can also catch a ferry from Scarborough to Port O'Spain for less than £5.00

Fabulous island to tour by LAND. Because of alignment sw/ne anchorages although very beautiful are very exposed to swell.
However if you go there in the next few days you will find winds more easterly than normal which makes ahuge difference. Best time to visit is said to be June onwards but then you are at risk of hurricanes. I was there in Jan and Mar last year but vowed to go by plane or ferry from Trini (very cheap) for any future visit! It is difficult to believe any boats there are for sale as there only a handful around! Loads in Chaguaramus though.
