To pay or not to pay VAT is the question

I have just purchased a boat from guernsey and have been billed for VAT by the haulier bringing the boat back to the uk.
The boat was made and sold in 1966 and went straight to guernsey
Do i have to pay ?

Blimey, there are some characters around this forum, but this must be the first time I hear of someone who bought two 1966 boats from Guernsey at the same time.

Yes, you have to pay VAT.

Is it a uk haulier or guernsey man? if uk then yes unless you got a guernsey resident or the broker to arrange it.
