Working on the boat today and I was asked the question as to whether I was going to do the props with anything, well I wasn't but it posed the question
Do you antifoul or paint props? what about the P bracket? should that get a lick of antifoul and finally what about the trim tabs???

Its fine to antifoul the P bracket and trim tabs, but its a waste of time doing the props, I have been boating and antifouling for over 20 years and it is generally thought that antifouling props is not worth doing as it just comes off all too quickly!

Sorry for the numpty question, but if I antifoul the trim tabs do I still need the anodes?
I remember a couple of years ago watching someone painting the duo-props on a pair of out drives on a 40' boat. We had just changed our steel (painted) prop for a stainless steel one and thought it was just steel vs stainless steel but ours are a brass/bronze colour (when cleaned up) so I just wondered once the question was asked.
P brackets will definitely be done - tomorrow if the weather holds

Polish the props with metal polish if they are S/S or bronze, otherwise touch up the paintwork on the aluminium props.

Yes, you still need anodes on the trim tabs and the anodes may last longer.

I don't think there are any steel props (maybe cast iron?) but 99% will be aluminium alloy (on outboards and outdrives), aluminium bronze, or stainless steel for props that don't stay in the water for too long.
